“Camila” by Alexei Mikhailov

This photo was taken in a photo studio as part of the Model Tests project for Camila. At first sight, I was struck by the unique appearance of the model, and upon personal acquaintance, by her amazing character traits. Despite the fact that she is young, Camila is a purposeful and self-confident girl. The model easily transformed from image to image, and it was exactly the thing that fascinated me the most.

Attention to detail and artistry of a young girl helped me to realize all my ideas with ease. The photo was taken with a Canon 5D Mark III camera and an 85mm lens. The model is lit with a single flash light source with a large softbox. The photo was finalized in the Photoshop editor.

What do you think are the TWO most impactful features that make your image a good photograph? Don’t be shy!

I can highlight two things: the first is the unique appearance of the model and the second is the quality of the light.

If you would be able to make this photo once again, what would be the ONE thing you would like to do better or different?

During the shooting, I definitely did not have enough accessories.

Beautiful picture and well photographed , I retired from News, Magazines and Corporate 10 years ago, and one assignment in 2002 changed my attitude to equipment and complicatios. I had to fly four hours away to shoot a hotel and owner/manager +food for another magazine I took a Hasselblad 3 lens outfit, a Canon EOS 4- lenses , a three- head Elinchrom tripods stands all together with accessories I was hundreds of dollars in overweight charges. From that day I cut back and back . Your work has an elegant simplicty , dont worry about accessories ..Cheers Jimmy
