FRAMES Digital – October 2026

The October 2026 edition of FRAMES Digital brings together eight fascinating photographic features exploring memory, identity, human connection, environmental change, and the unexpected ways photographs can reveal something beyond our original intentions.

Ava James Filan opens the issue with Patterned Reminiscence, weaving the cotton wool, a deeply personal exploration of womanhood, memory, and the female mentors who have shaped her life. Kerry Mansfield, in The Intertidal Project, reveals how years of photographing the same California coastline can make the passage of time visible.

In a powerful feature written by Gina Williams, documentary photographer Keith Dannemiller takes us into the lives of migrants stranded in Mexico City, reminding us of photography’s ability to create empathy and human connection. Raj Sarkar, meanwhile, reflects on discovering an entire body of abstract photographs he never consciously intended to make.

Our cover photographer, Ruggero Pellegrin, takes us along the roads of Nepal, finding compelling stories in the everyday realities of a country undergoing change. Riccardo Cavalotti examines the troubling relationship between water, corporate power, and consumer culture in Mexico.

In a conversation with Alasdair Foster, Uruguayan artist Fede Ruiz Santesteban introduces his extraordinary photographic experiments with leaves, sunlight, and chlorophyll. Finally, Marty Gervais takes us aboard a Canadian train, where fleeting autumn landscapes become beautiful, painterly abstractions.

Eight distinct perspectives, each offering something to discover, question, and carry into our own photographic practice.
