FRAMES Magazine – Volume 18

We have just published the 18th printed edition of FRAMES.

This issue explores compelling photographic narratives through the works of six featured photographers.

Matt Black’s American Artifacts presents a stark documentary on poverty in the U.S., illustrating the overlooked struggles of millions through a deeply immersive visual journey. Chloé Azzopardi’s Non-Technological Devices takes an avant-garde approach, crafting surreal imagery that fuses organic materials with modern concepts. Mark Forbes‘ Collected Memories reflects on photography’s role in shaping and preserving personal and collective memory, while Nicola Davison Reed’s Paper & Glass experiments with conceptual black-and-white portraiture in natural light. Marc Wilson’s Travelogue 2: A Thousand Days of Longing offers an emotional and personal reflection on Ukraine before and during the war, merging historical documentation with intimate storytelling.

The issue also features in-depth interviews with renowned photographers Mark Edward Harris and Arthur Ollman, discussing artistic intuition, the role of light, and the complexities of curatorial judgment.

Additionally, Sarah Sense’s work I Want to Hold You Longer interweaves Indigenous weaving traditions with contemporary art, exploring themes of heritage and resilience.

FRAMES Vol. 18 stands as a testament to the power of photography in capturing history, emotion, and personal narratives.
