A few months ago, we introduced FRAMES MONO, a new series of small, carefully produced, single-artist photography zines. The first edition, featuring the work of Adrian Hill, was received with wonderful enthusiasm, confirming what we had hoped: that there is still something deeply special about a focused body of photography presented in print.
We are now delighted to announce the second edition of FRAMES MONO, this time featuring the work of Cynthia Gladis, one of the most respected photographers in the FRAMES community.
Cynthia’s photography is full of color, wit, rhythm, and visual intelligence. Her images often begin with everyday things — a wall, a window, a chair, a reflection, a piece of laundry, a shadow, an object left behind — but through her way of seeing, they become small moments of surprise and delight.

There is a wonderful tension in her work between precision and playfulness. You can feel her background as a graphic designer in the way she organizes the frame: the edges, the geometry, the balance, and the placement of forms and color. At the same time, the photographs never feel cold or overly controlled. They feel alive. They feel discovered.
Many of Cynthia’s photographs contain few, if any, people. And yet the human presence is everywhere. It is there in the traces people leave behind, in the objects they arrange without thinking, in the colors of a street corner, in the odd humor of the ordinary world. Her work reminds us that photography does not always need dramatic subject matter. Sometimes it only needs attention, curiosity, and the ability to recognize when the world has quietly arranged itself into a picture.

This new edition of FRAMES MONO is printed in full color throughout, with a premium 200gsm uncoated cover and 44 pages of photography on 120gsm uncoated stock — an elegant, tactile paper choice that gives the zine a beautiful physical presence. The introduction is written by W. Scott Olsen, who reflects on the joy, energy, and visual surprise running through Cynthia’s work.
The zine is now available for pre-sale here >>>
