Alain Zobrist, CEO of Swiss Timing—a Swatch Group company that also owns Omega—is at the helm of developing timekeeping devices for the Olympic Games. With this role, he brings invaluable first-hand experience navigating the challenges and thrills of managing one of the most critical aspects of the world’s largest multi-sport event.
At Paris 2024, OMEGA proudly unveiled the next generation of its cutting-edge photofinish technology. The Scan‘O’Vision ULTIMATE, now equipped with the highest resolution of any photo-finish camera available, can capture an astonishing 40,000 digital images per second at the finish line. This advancement ensures faster and more precise decision-making for judges, delivering maximum clarity in determining race outcomes, even in the closest finishes.
Dedicated color sensors further enhance image quality, eliminating pixel interference for cleaner visuals. This upgraded model replaced the previous Scan‘O’Vision MYRIA, which captured 10,000 images per second.
Making its Olympic debut at Paris 2024, the Scan‘O’Vision ULTIMATE will play a pivotal role in determining official results for athletics and track cycling, providing a composite photo of every athlete crossing the finish line with unparalleled accuracy.
