Jeroen Van Nieuwenhove is an award-winning Belgian-Icelandic nature photographer based in Reykjavík, Iceland. His work spans landscape, wildlife, aerial and drone photography, with a particular focus on Iceland’s remote Highlands and its active volcanic landscape. Since settling in Iceland in 2021, he has documented numerous eruptions, building a distinctive visual record of the extraordinary forces continually reshaping the island.
His photographs have received international recognition and have appeared in publications and media including National Geographic and the BBC. His accolades include awards from the Federation of European Photographers, the Belgian Photo Awards, the GDT European Nature Photographer of the Year and the International Landscape Photographer of the Year, and he holds the Qualified European Photographer (QEP) distinction.
Alongside his photographic practice, Jeroen is an author, educator and fully licensed photography guide, leading workshops and expeditions in Iceland, Greenland, Antarctica and other remote regions. He is the author of New Earth, a photographic book documenting Iceland’s 2021 volcanic eruption, and teaches aerial photography through his extensive Drone Photography Masterclass.
