I made this photograph in Chinatown / Los Angeles while wondering around the area one night. The light that bathed the store front captured my attention.
This image is from my ongoing “Los Angeles After Dark” series, and is quite different than what I usually photograph for this project. This may be the only one that does not have any actual light source in the frame. Usually there is a marquee, lit sign, or other source of illumination that lights up the scene, and it is this what sparks my visual interest, combined with a great composition and interesting building/architecture.
But this photograph is an outlier, as it has only incident lighting. It spoke to me none the less.
What do you think are the TWO most impactful features that make your image a good photograph? Don’t be shy!
Lighting and composition.
If you would be able to make this photo once again, what would be the ONE thing you would like to do better or different?
Nothing.
